For her second wedding shower, I got to make her this!
This two tier cake was Carrot Cake with cream cheese icing on the bottom, and was Chocolate Cake with chocolate buttercream on the top. I decorated it with the rich purple fondant, which was actually white fondant before mixing a lot of pink and sky blue colour gel into it. The flowers are done with a white buttercream using a technique brush embroidery, which means that I piped the all the flowers and then put a brush to each one to get the embroidered effect.
I also collaborated with Lauren's mom to secretly get a copy of Lauren and Brett's monogram, so I could add it to the side of their cake. I think it added a great personal touch, and Lauren was so surprised when she saw it. When I took the cake to the wedding shower, the ladies that were organizing the shower took the personal touch a step farther and actually had a picture of Brett and Lauren to set behind the cake.
A year and several cakes later, Lauren's wedding shower cake is still one of my top favourites!

can i ask you, what size pans you used to make these two layers? and how many does this size feed? this cake is gorgeous, btw! i'm just now getting into taking orders for cakes. i generally have just done them for family. and i plan to practice... but i want to get it right. :)
